Everything you can study at NUTM.

Two faculties and an executive portfolio, across fourteen programmes and three levels of study. Whatever stage you are at, the whole route through is set out here.

How this place teaches.

NUTM was approved by the Federal Executive Council and accredited by the National Universities Commission to award full bachelor's degrees. It teaches computing, science and management on a single campus at 6 Freetown Road, Apapa, the port district through which most of Nigeria's trade passes.

The academic structure is deliberately narrow. Two faculties, fourteen programmes, one campus. A university that tried to teach everything would teach none of it at the standard this one intends.

  • Experiential before theoretical

Students build, ship and defend work from the first semester. The theory is taught so the practice makes sense, not the other way round.

  • Faculty from outside the country

Adjunct academics from Oxford, MIT, Stanford, Penn, Cornell and Worcester Polytechnic teach alongside resident staff, so the syllabus tracks what those departments teach now.

  • Two industrial placements

Every undergraduate completes mandatory SIWES placements at 200 and 300 level, inside real Nigerian companies, before they graduate.

  • Entrepreneurship in every degree

Venture design runs through the curriculum whether the degree is accounting or cybersecurity, because most graduates will either start something or join something small.

Computing and management award the degrees. Executive education runs alongside them for people already in senior roles.

What the teaching looks like.

Studio work, supervision and seminars, rather than a lecture theatre and a reading list.
