Faculty of Computing & Science

Computer science, cybersecurity and information technology at bachelor's level, extending into software engineering and data science at master's.

What the faculty is for.

The Faculty of Computing & Science is the faculty NUTM names formally in its own charter, and the one we were largely built around. It teaches three bachelor's degrees on campus and two master's degrees online.

The three undergraduate degrees share a foundation year and then separate sharply: Computer Science asks how systems should be built, Information Technology asks how they should be run, and Cybersecurity asks how they fail and who makes them fail.

Teaching leans on adjunct academics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford and MIT, which is why the syllabus tracks current practice rather than a decade-old specification.

  • Engineers, not operators

Graduates leave able to reason from first principles about a system, rather than to operate a particular vendor's tooling.

  • A defensive capability the country needs

Nigeria's financial and logistics sectors are among the most attacked in West Africa. The cybersecurity degree exists because the shortfall in qualified defenders is measurable.

  • Research that starts on campus

Final-year projects are supervised and examined, and the strongest continue into the faculty's own master's programmes.
