Build the institution, not just work at it.

NUTM is seven years old at most and hiring against a stated ambition. What you do here still shapes what the place becomes.

Where we are as an employer.

We are a small institution with a target we have published and can therefore be measured against: top fifty globally for technology and management, top five in Africa, best in Nigeria. Meeting it requires people who want that stated out loud.

Roles open as the university grows, and what is open now is listed below. Speculative applications are read alongside them, particularly from academics who want to teach here beside a post somewhere else.

A small institution, which means the work is broad rather than narrow.

The kinds of role.

Three routes in, with different commitments attached.

  • Adjunct academics

Teach in intensive blocks alongside a post at your home institution. This is how most of our teaching is delivered, and how the syllabus stays current.

  • Resident faculty

Full-time teaching and supervision on the Apapa campus, across the Faculty of Computing & Science and the Faculty of Management.

  • Professional services

Admissions, registry, programmes, finance, IT operations, partnerships and outreach: the ten-person team that runs the university day to day.

What is genuinely different.

  • The institution is still being formed

Decisions taken now set precedent rather than follow it. That is either the appeal or the disqualifier, and it is worth knowing which before you write.

  • Teaching is experiential by mandate

Every degree ends in supervised, examined work, and every undergraduate does two industrial placements. The model is not negotiable and it shapes every role.

  • The location does real work

The campus sits inside Nigeria's largest container port. For operations, logistics, security and economics, the subject matter is on the other side of the wall.

  • A small, published standard

Two faculties, fourteen programmes, a named roster of academics. Small enough that a hire changes the average.

How to apply.

  1. Step 01

    Write to us

A note on what you would teach or run, and what you have done that supports it. A CV helps; a covering essay helps more.

  2. Step 02

    A conversation

With the academic director for teaching roles, or the relevant head for professional services.

  3. Step 03

    A working session

Academics teach a session. Professional staff work through a real problem the team currently has.

Applications are read as they arrive rather than in batches. Where a role carries a closing date it is on the role's own page; where it does not, there is no deadline to miss. Write to info@nutm.edu.ng.

Teach here.

Most of our teaching is delivered by academics who hold a post somewhere else and come here in intensive blocks.
